"In the past I have made bags with fabric that I have loved so much, I made PU-looking handles to match (see my Fabric Bag Handles pattern). This made me think when using cork as a bag base, it would be great to have co-ordinating handles too.

The Rivet Handled Bag guides you through making a stylish bag with a cork base and matching cork handles; the handles are applied with rivets or Chicago screws, meaning a really professional look can be achieved.."

To make this item, you will need:
  • ½m Fabulous fabric for your bag outer (Natasha used Chenille Feel Tapestry fabric)
  • ½m lining fabric
  • FQ cork for base and handles
  • ½m Vlieseline Style-Vil Fix fusible foam interfacing
  • Rivet kit or Chicago screw kit
  • A leather punch
  • Quilter's washaway tape
  • Co-ordinating thread
  • Basic sewing equipment
