"Handles can change the feel of a bag tremendously, upgrading your make so that it looks really professional. However, if you are having to buy ready-made handles, it can get expensive. Let me show you how to make really professional-looking handles, out of webbing or leftover faux leather or cork, using plastic boning." - Natasha
  • Full-colour instructions, printed and posted out to you

Instructions only: materials all available to purchase separately.

You will need:

  • Plastic boning. Natasha used ¼” wide boning that can be sewn through. This is ideal when using strips of webbing/cork/faux leather or similar ranging from 1” to 1 ½” in width. If you are making handles using wider strips, we would recommend wider boning.
  • Off cuts of webbing/cork or faux leather/PU, any length you wish. This will vary depending on the project the finished handles will be going on. Natasha recommends making a few sets of handles to get the idea; you will soon get the idea and be able to adjust the measurements to suit your makes.
  • Rivets or Chicago screws
  • OPTIONAL: Bag hardware (for example D rings, square or rectangular rings) of your choice to match the width of your webbing/cork/faux leather. Alternatively, you might choose to just attach your handles with rivets or Chicago screws.
  • Quilters' ¼" washaway tape
  • Co-ordinating thread
  • General sewing equipment
