This is a project close to Gemma’s heart here at Natasha Makes. So many of us have had loved one affected by dementia that we feel this month’s make is an important one . People with dementia often find having something for their hands to do comforting; this is especially true for those who are in unfamiliar surroundings like a hospital or care home. Fidget quilts are usually made with a variety of textures and embellishments, helping to keep the hands of those with dementia occupied and to instil a feeling of calm. It is thought that different textiles can help to stimulate memory, so we recommend that you embrace this project and incorporate lots of different elements, designed to trigger the senses. There is no right or wrong quilt here, please consider the instructions a serving suggestion. The aim is to have blocks of different texture and others with things to keep fidgety hands occupied. Be creative and don't forget to share your makes with us - we would love to see your creations. - Natasha
