SKU: NM_90_40001892

Join Kaffe on his travels in India and Vietnam. Kaffe's Colour Quest DVD, which has been produced by Bradon Mably is now available!

This DVD is much more than just a travel video. It showcases how Kaffe Fassett draws inspiration from around the world and into his work. We get to see the beautiful results of his travels - the needlepoint, collage, mosaic and paintings which are directly inspired by the East.

Kaffe's eye for pattern and colour plays a crucial role in why many regard Kaffe as the world's leading contemporary textile designer. His source for inspiration is so original and the extraordinary colour combinations with dramatic use of pattern sets his work apart from others. Most designers take their inspiration primarily from museums, nature and still life compositions, whereas Kaffe will spot unexpected delights wherever he goes. From the way a hardware shop is displayed, the patterns of corrugated roofs in a shantytown to the seething jostle of a busy market place. This journey with Kaffe opens our eyes to a new way of looking at things and we can see ideas for future designs taking shape in his mind.

In India, Kaffe guides us from the humblest villages to the most extravagant palaces, where whole rooms are filled with colour and intricate beauty of Indian craftsmanship. We get to share Kaffe's enthusiasm for colour and patterns in everyday life: the vivid shades of saris set again brightly painted houses, the decoration of buses and cars, and the beauty of the Indian deserts.

Then in Vietnam, he sails up the Perfume River at dawn in a tortilla of fishing boats. This magical piece of camera work captures the silence of early mornings and the shimmering pearl greys as light rises over the water. Exploring tropical markets and discovering a Buddhist template far from the beaten track.  This glimpse into seeing Kaffe's work come to life is an absolute delight.

53 minute running time - DVD format available in PAL and is optimised for TVs in Europe.
